THE REFUGE

The Refuge is the weekend gathering of SSY, focused on COMMUNITY, GROUP & PRAYER.

Being a weekend gathering, The Refuge meets on various days of various weeks at various times throughout the month.  The easiest way to know what's happening with The Refuge is to check our Google Calendar.

The Refuge is designed for both Jr. High and Sr. High youth alike.  It's also a great jumping in point, if you're new to SSY.

SSY SMALL GROUPS

JUMP is a small group option for those wanting to jump into the essentials of the faith.

Jump is designed to challenge youth regardless of age or grade level to grow in their understanding and practice of the Christian faith.  Jump employs the use of creative activity, role play, experiential learning, team challenge and the like to help youth learn and grow in their personal faith.

Jump is great for youth who like to learn through activity and interaction.  Join us sometime and discover what Jump is all about.

JUMP meets from 6:00-7:00 pm in The Loft and is open to all youth regardless of grade level.

Don't have a Bible, don't worry, we have Bibles for you, in fact you can even keep it at the end of the night if you'd like.

Our Current Theme is: CLEAR, Discovering the Theological Foundations of Faith

THE WELL is a small group option for those looking to draw deeply from God's Word.

The Well is built on a study model that relies heavily on group interaction, participation and discussion.  The Well is not a lecture, rather a group discovery of the fullness of God and the Christian faith through engaging topics that relate to youth today.

The Well is designed to challenge youth to go deep with their faith, not only in learning but in practice as well.  Join us sometime and discover what The Well is all about.

THE WELL meets from 7:30-9:00 pm in The Loft and is open to all youth regardless of grade level.

Don't have a Bible, don't worry, we have Bibles for you, in fact you can even keep it at the end of the night if you'd like.

Our Current Theme is: CRAZY LOVE, Overwhelmed by a Relentless God

SALT (students advancing in leadership training)

SALT (Students Advancing in Leadership Training) is a mentoring/discipling program offered to all youth 7th - 12th grade.

Presently, SALT is undergoing some revisions to the training material.  At this time the Fall Run is not being offered.  Youth may apply to participate in the Winter Run.  Deadline to apply for the Winter Run is December 1, 2010.  Please contact Pastor Ryan if you have questions.

SALT is a national program open to all youth of the Brethren Church, across the country.   Each church operates the SALT program a bit differently; so here is what you need to know if you're considering the SALT program within Nappanee FBC:

  • An application must be filled out and on file with Pastor Ryan prior to beginning the program, either the Fall Run (September - December) or the Winter Run (January - April).

  • SALT has two different starting options, either Fall Run or Winter Run  Each "run" is 4 months in length.  In theory, you may participate in two training levels per year.

  • The cost is $10 per student, per training level (4 total).  There is a cost to help cover the cost of training materials per each training level.

  • Youth will be expected to meet at least once a month with their mentor for training and accountability.  Individual meeting schedules are set up between the mentor and the youth participant in advance of the first meeting.

  • More info can be found at the BYIC SALT Shaker, the online home for the National SALT program.
